Several Detroit-bound flyers accidentally got a free trip to bumfuck nowhere Canada on Sunday, after their flight from Amsterdam was grounded on a remote military base in Newfoundland for a whopping 21 hours.
A Delta flight carrying 270 passengers from Amsterdam to Detroit, was stranded in a remote Canadian town for nearly 24 hours after it conducted an emergency landing on Sunday, according to the airline. @perezreports has the details. https://t.co/kB9JTZbmwF pic.twitter.com/z9K8g94WyF

This tale of airline woe — one that puts those measly three-hour delays to shame — allegedly came after an engine issue forced the plane to take a nearly day-long detour on Ameica’s hat, the plane’s 270 passengers staying overnight in the military barracks.
“It honestly felt like a hotel. It wasn’t too bad. We had soap, water, everything,” passenger Tony Santoro told local Detroit news outlet, Fox 2 in what may be the most depressing lodging review in the entire history of travel.
@holly_dubbs Been stuck on a delta flight for almost 20 hours. Just siting in a plane for 10 hours in canada. No one can give us answers. #Delta #Flight #fly #fyp ♬ original sound - Holly_Dubbs
While fortunately a second rescue flight was dispatched to the Northern base — the first was a no-go after the airplane’s crew timed out — bringing the passengers back to good ‘ol Motor City on Monday, one thing is certain: We can only hope no one opted to enjoy one last Amsterdam space cake before takeoff.
